Job description

Experience and Qualifications  

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in computer science and/or economics is required.  

  •  In addition to a degree in economics and/or computer science, a solid background in mathematics and statistics is highly advantageous.  

  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of statistical and econometric software such as MATLAB, R, EViews and Stata is strongly required.  

  • Proficiency in economic research, survey methods, and data collection, with a strong understanding of statistical concepts and methodologies, is desirable.  

  • Mastery of Microsoft Office applications is essential.

  • Solid Coding skills, especially with MATLAB, R, EViews and Stata  

  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.  

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team.  

  • Robust analytical and presentation skills, with the capacity to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.  

Responsibilities  

  • Compile macroeconomic statistics, update the core forecasting database.  

  • Update and disseminate the Forecasting for Policy Analysis System (FPAS) calendar.  

  • Conduct nowcasting and near-term inflation forecasting to support the FPAS process. 

  • Participate in the production of the medium-term economic forecast.  

  • Operationalisation of the Bank’s Quarterly Projection Model. 

  • Contribute to model building (model extensions and building new models) to strengthen the analytical workhorse of the Department. 

  • Present the current economic assessment (initial conditions) reports at the Monetary Policy Committee and other committee meetings.  

  • Participate in the preparation, publication, and dissemination of the Bank’s analytical reports.  

  • Draft policy briefs for Senior Management engagements.  

  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including consultants, development partners, and sister institutions, on tasks critical to the Economic Research Department.  

This position is Grade 8 of the pay scale with an attractive package.
