Economist (3) Positions

Job Description

Experience and Qualifications

• A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in economics is required.

• In addition to a degree in economics, a solid background in mathematics and computer science is highly advantageous.

• Proficiency in economic research, survey methods, and data collection, with a strong understanding of statistical concepts and methodologies, is desirable.

• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of statistical and econometric software such as EViews, MATLAB, Stata, or SPSS is an asset.

• Mastery of Microsoft Office applications is essential.

·       Previous work experience would be an added advantage.

• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.

• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.

• Flexibility to adapt to changing demands and the ability to work independently or contribute meaningfully to team efforts.

• Robust analytical and presentation skills, with the capacity to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Collect and compile macroeconomic statistics, update the Bank’s statistical webpage, and disseminate data to relevant stakeholders.

• Prepare regular reports and updates on domestic and global economic developments.

• Conduct economic analysis and research, independently or within teams, on macroeconomic and other related issues.

• Present findings and reports at the Monetary Policy Committee and other committee meetings.

• Participate in the preparation, publication, and dissemination of the Bank’s analytical reports.

• Draft policy briefs for Senior Management engagements.

• Collaborate with stakeholders, including consultants, development partners, and sister institutions, on tasks critical to the Economic Research Department.

This position is Grade 8 of the pay scale with an attractive package.
